Privacy policy

This policy explains what information Ophthalmic Tech Jobs ("we," "us") collects, how we use it, and your choices. The site is operated by Bamboo Grove Workshop, based in Bloomington, Indiana. Questions: hello@ophthalmictechjobs.com.

What we collect

If you browse or search

• Basic usage counts: which pages are viewed, which Apply buttons are clicked, and how a visit arrived (for example, from a job alert, search results or the homepage).
• A random ID stored in your browser so we don't count the same visitor's repeat clicks more than once. It isn't linked to your name or email.
• To prevent inflated counts and abuse, our server briefly reads your connection's IP address and turns it into a scrambled one-way fingerprint, mixed with a secret that changes daily. We never save your IP address. Fingerprints are deleted after 2 days for view and click records, and after 7 days for problem reports and alert sign-ups. Once the daily secret is deleted, even a remaining fingerprint can't be matched to anyone.
• Like most websites, our hosting and email providers may keep standard technical logs, including IP addresses, for security and reliability under their own policies.
• We don't use advertising trackers, and we don't sell or share your information for advertising.

If you sign up for job alerts

• Your email address and the alert preferences you choose (such as location, certification and experience).
• Whether our emails were sent, bounced or marked as spam, so we can stop sending to addresses that don't want them.

If you create an employer account

• Your work email, and your organization's name, website, location and logo.
• If you claim a listing, how you're connected to the practice.
• The listings you submit and their review history.
• A record of sign-ins and important account actions, kept for security.

If you pay for a listing

• Payments are processed by Stripe. We receive the payment status, amount, date and a reference number. We never see or store your full card number.

If you report a problem or contact us

• What you send us, and your email address if you include it.

How we use it

• To run the site: show jobs, process listings and payments, send sign-in emails, and send the alerts you asked for.
• To show employers how many people viewed and clicked their listings. Employers see totals only, never who you are.
• To keep the site secure and prevent spam, fraud and abuse.
• To improve the site using totals and trends.
• To meet legal, tax and accounting obligations.

Who we share it with

We share information only with the service providers that help us run the site, and only as much as they need:

• Lovable, for hosting and the database.
• Stripe, for payments.
• Resend, for job alert emails, and Lovable's email service for account and employer emails.
• Google Workspace, for our own email correspondence.
• Cloudflare, for site delivery and security.

We may also share information if the law requires it, to protect people from harm, or as part of a sale or transfer of the business. We don't sell personal information.

When you apply for a job, you leave our site and apply directly with the employer. The employer's own privacy policy then applies.

Cookies and browser storage

• Sign-in uses browser storage to keep you signed in.
• The random visitor ID described above is stored in your browser.
• Our hosting network sets a security cookie to block automated abuse. We don't read or use it.
• You can clear these in your browser settings at any time. Clearing them signs you out.

How long we keep it

• Job alert details are kept until you unsubscribe, then deleted or anonymized within 30 days. We keep a minimal record of the unsubscribe so we don't email you again.
• Employer accounts are kept while the account is active. Payment records are kept as long as tax and accounting rules require.
• Usage counts are kept as totals. Visitor fingerprints are deleted after 2 to 7 days, as described above.
• Security and audit records are kept as long as needed to protect the site.

Your choices

• Unsubscribe from alerts with the link in any alert email.
• Ask to see, correct or delete your information by emailing hello@ophthalmictechjobs.com. We'll respond within 30 days. Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under state law, and we'll honor them.
• We may need to verify your request before acting on it.

Security

We use secure connections, limit who can access data, and require an authenticator code for administrator access. No system is perfectly secure, so please use a strong password if you set one.

Children

The site isn't intended for anyone under 16, and we don't knowingly collect their information.

Changes

If we make important changes, we'll update the date above and, for significant changes, notify employers and alert subscribers by email.
